ilab is a technology incubator that helps new technology start-ups become successful businesses.
These are tough times for tech start-ups: the economic climate is uncertain, venture capital funding is scarce, and many new businesses struggle to make it past the starting post.
ilab helps selected entrepreneurs survive and thrive by showing them how to navigate the pitfalls which claim many new start-ups. We work with start-up founders, providing targeted advice, guidance and mentoring to accelerate the growth of their venture by making considered plans and executing them swiftly and expertly.
Through a comprehensive package of assistance, coaching, mentoring and training, ilab helps the founders of new technology ventures to build successful businesses and negotiate the many risks faced by start-up companies. ilab member companies are supported by ilab’s experienced team as well as a network of seasoned entrepreneurs and industry experts who provide pro-bono mentoring to member companies.
ilab is not a consulting firm – we don’t sell time, write lengthy business plans or come up with fancy spreadsheets; we're not 'life support' for struggling businesses; and we're not a serviced office provider - while we have some space available for companies that want to locate in the incubator, if your main interest is office space then there are better places to look.
ilab is financially supported by the Queensland Government, and like most other business incubators, ilab does not exist to make money. We charge our members a fee, but this is heavily subsidised.
ilab only has the bandwidth to work with a limited number of companies at a time, so we have to be very selective about who we accept into the incubator. The process of applying for ilab membership is rigorous – our objective is to take a small group of promising technology ventures and throw as much support behind them as possible to create the next batch of globally competitive companies.
